At PCI Centers, we recognize that Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is more than occasional distraction or restlessness. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulse control, and activity levels. While often diagnosed in childhood, many individuals continue to experience symptoms into adolescence and adulthood.
ADHD can interfere with academic achievement, career success, relationships, and self-esteem—but with the right support, individuals can thrive.

According to the DSM-5, ADHD is divided into three presentations (American Psychiatric Association, 2013):
difficulty sustaining focus, disorganization, forgetfulness, and frequent careless mistakes
restlessness, fidgeting, interrupting, and difficulty waiting turns
a mixture of both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms
These symptoms must be present in more than one setting (home, school, work) and cause functional impairment to meet diagnostic criteria.

At PCI Centers, we take a comprehensive, individualized approach to diagnosing and treating ADHD.
We use structured clinical interviews and, when indicated, psychological testing to confirm an ADHD diagnosis and identify co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, or learning disorders.
We provide evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), executive functioning coaching, and skills-based approaches to improve organization, time management, and emotional regulation.
When appropriate, we collaborate with prescribing providers to integrate stimulant or non-stimulant medications that support attention and impulse control.
For children and adolescents, we work closely with families and schools to provide behavioral strategies, advocacy, and psychoeducation.
Mindfulness practices, sleep hygiene, and structured routines help clients strengthen focus and manage symptoms in daily life.

If you live near Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village, and inattention, impulsivity, or hyperactivity are interfering with daily life, PCI Centers can help. With personalized, evidence-based care, individuals with ADHD can learn to manage symptoms, build confidence, and achieve their goals.
